Jaguar Racing kan terugkijken op een enerverend, maar vooral succesvol raceweekend in Diriyah, Saudi-Arabië. Tijdens de eerste ronde van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Diriyah pakte Nieuw Zeelander Mitch Evans het brons na een spannende nachtrace. Nog meer succes werd geboekt tijdens de tweede ronde die ook in de nacht werd verreden. Jaguar-coureur Sam Bird kwam tijdens die tweede race met zijn volledig elektrische Jaguar I-TYPE 5 als eerste over de finishstreep. Zodoende kan Jaguar Racing Saudi-Arabië verlaten als koploper in het teamklassement.

Sam Bird startte de tweede race in Diriyah op de tweede startrij, maar maakte een beslissende zet en bereikte de tweede plaats in de eerste bocht, waarmee hij Sette Camara inhaalde. Bird vocht het grootste deel van de race met zijn oude teamgenoot Robin Frijns en reed aanvallend en verdedigend en toonde het tempo van de Jaguar I-TYPE 5. Na meerdere incidenten volgde Sam de safety car gedurende de laatste zes minuten van de race voordat hij de overwinning pakte onder een rode vlag.

De tweede nachtrace bracht minder fortuin voor Mitch Evans die tijdens de eerste nachtrace in Diriyah nog het brons wist te overwinnen. Tijdens de tweede race startte Evans als achttiende op de grid nadat hij werd tegengehouden door Oliver Rowland tijdens zijn kwalificatie-hotlap. Evans finishte niet nadat een botsing zijn race beëindigde.

We've worked really hard together during the pre season and although there were some challenges, we've worked for this result. This is for everyone – not only for the people in Riyadh, but for the team back at the factory and everyone at Jaguar who have tirelessly worked on this project. We walk away from this weekend in a strong position and I look forward to racing on the city streets of Rome."

Mitch Evans, Jaguar Racing coureur, #20: "The race was always going to be tough from the back of the grid. I was trying to make some progress but ended up losing some places at the start. Although this is disappointing we've had a great weekend as a team, we've scored great points on both sides of the garage. We'll take a lot from this weekend and hopefully move things forward for Rome."
